Randall "Randy" Leroy Hurley

Randall "Randy" Leroy Hurley, age 72, of Leander, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 23, 1954, in Kansas City, Missouri, Randy was the son of Keith and Lila Hurley. He grew up in the Kansas City area, attended school in Raytown, and graduated from Raytown South High School before continuing his education at technical school. Randy enjoyed a long and successful career in technology, working as a Senior Service Engineer for Honeywell, Tandem Computers, and Hewlett-Packard (HP). His sharp mind, curiosity, and exceptional technical skills earned him the respect of colleagues throughout his career. After leaving engineering, he enjoyed working as a hotshot delivery driver for Full Moon Freight until his retirement in December 2007. Randy shared more than 31 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marcia Hurley. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, travel, music, and treasured memories. A lifelong learner, Randy was fascinated by technology and always eager to explore the latest innovations. He especially loved taking his beloved Mazda Miata on winding, scenic roads and spending time with simulated driving games at home. Travel was one of Randy's greatest joys. He loved exploring the United States by motorhome, experiencing the beauty of the country by train, and embracing the adventure of the open road. Music was another lifelong passion. Whether attending concerts, discovering new venues, or simply spending time with friends listening to live performances, Randy found happiness in every note. Randy had a gift for turning ordinary moments into adventures, whether he was chasing a scenic back road in his Miata, discovering a new band, planning his next trip, or simply sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. Animals always held a special place in Randy's heart. He loved many pets throughout his life, but his beloved cat, Stevie, held an especially treasured place in his heart. Randy's curiosity extended beyond technology. He had a deep appreciation for unique rocks and gemstones, and his home reflected that passion with a collection that often sparked conversation and admiration. Above all else, Randy loved his family. He shared an especially close bond with his mother, Lila, whose love, laughter, and companionship remained one of the greatest blessings of his life. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Keith Hurley, and his beloved wife of more than 31 years, Marcia Hurley. He is survived by his loving mother, Lila Hurley; his son, Eddie Rockley and wife, Susan; his daughter, Lisa Kirk and husband, Greg; his granddaughters, Emily Rockley and Holly Rockley Ohrenberg and husband, Cody; his brother, Levoy Hurley and wife, Penny; his sister, Linda Hurley Walkling and husband, Bill; his nephew, Samuel Marklein, son of Linda; and many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him. Randy will be remembered for his quick wit, unwavering love for his family, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His adventurous spirit, generous heart, endless curiosity, and ability to make those around him smile will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family will share details once arrangements have been finalized. Though he has left this world, Randy's laughter, curiosity, and love of adventure will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May those who knew and loved him find comfort in every winding road, every favorite song, and every treasured memory that brings a smile.
