Helen Louise Hodge

With heartfelt reverence, we gather to honor the life of Helen Louise Hodge, a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and faithful servant of God. Though we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Helen is now in the presence of the Lord. She peacefully entered eternal rest on April 17, 2025, at the age of 79. Helen was born on November 24, 1945, in Austin, Texas, to Lola Mae Robinson and James C. “J.C.” Pearson. She was a proud graduate of L.C. Anderson High School, where she built lasting friendships and fond memories. After graduating from high school, she pursued a career in nursing, working as both a Licensed Vocational Nurse and a Registered Nurse. Later in her career, she dedicated her skills and commitment to the State of Texas, proudly serving in public service until her well-earned retirement. A woman of faith, Helen accepted God at an early age and was a devout member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. Helen lived her life with kindness, humility, and devotion to her beliefs. Driven by a deep passion for helping those in need and supporting individuals through difficult times, Helen made certain everyone's needs and wants were met. In her leisure time, she found joy in watching Tyler Perry shows and treasured moments spent with her family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Lola Mae Robinson and James C. Pearson, brothers, James C. Pearson and David Pearson, sisters-in-loves, Brenda Pearson and Sharon Pearson, and her former spouse and lifelong friend, Louis James Hodge. She is survived by her children, Kimbralon Barnes (and husband, John), Louis Hodge Jr. (and wife, Jasmin), and her cherished grandchildren, Chelsea Martin, Kayla Howard, Kevin Edwards, LaShanne Hodge, Jeremy Hodge, Louis Hodge, Marlei Phillips, and London Hodge. Helen is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Eri’Yan Walker, Erijah Walker, Ayden Walker, Jeremiah Pernell, Sarai Howard, Stefon Howard, Ylan Howard, Kairo Edwards, Samiyah Cherry, Malakhi Cherry, and Kyree Hodge, her sister, Margaret Black, her brothers, Dennis Pearson, and Jimmy Pearson (Pat), and numerous other relatives, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly. Helen Louise Hodge will always be remembered with love by those whose lives she touched. You are forever in our hearts. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
