Clarrene Bishop, age 87, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, peacefully passed away on June 6, 2026, in Austin, Texas, in God’s care. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is now at rest in the arms of her Savior. Born to Fred B. Cooper and Ada (Wilna) Boyd, Clarrene grew up as a rancher’s daughter in Jal, New Mexico. She was most at home running barefoot in the red sands, tasting freshly churned ice cream from the frosty pine bucket, listening to the howls of coyotes through the night air, and attending church revivals that strengthened her faith. Surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her father’s steady presence, she learned resilience, the joys of simple living, and the quiet strength of hard work. These qualities shaped the way she loved and cared for others throughout her life. At age 18, she married her sweetheart, Darwyn Bishop. Together they built a life of faith, education, and family that carried them across several states before settling in Amarillo, Texas. Their marriage was marked by deep devotion to God, to each other, and to the family they raised together. Clarrene’s life was a calling—one marked by love. Clarrene dedicated herself to what mattered most. Her greatest joy was found in nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She created a home filled with love and warmth—the sweet smell of warm bread, the sound of her voice singing both silly songs and sacred hymns, and the comfort of a hug or backrub offered at just the right moment. Clarrene’s ministry was her hospitality. Her kitchen was always a gathering place, and her gentle presence left every guest feeling seen, cared for, and loved. Clarrene’s quiet influence is immeasurable—seen in the lives of those she loved and who loved her in return. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darwyn Bishop; her son, Clinton Bishop; and her parents, Fred B. Cooper and Ada (Wilna) Boyd. She is survived by her children, Darla Taylor (Mark) of Austin, Texas; Barton Bishop (Audrey) of Alvin, Texas; and Debra Farmer (Kyle) of Midland, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Melodi Bishop; her brother, Sam Cooper; and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom was a treasure to her. In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service will be held with family as she is laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Darwyn. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice Austin or Sage Park Assisted Living in gratitude for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided to Clarrene and her family.
